If you've always chosen "the ability to fly" over "invisibility" your dream is about to come true.

Way back in February we reported on a water-powered jet-pack that was making a splash in the fantasy water sports department. Now, the JetLev is making history again--it will be the first personal flight device available commercially.

Intended as a recreational device with holiday resorts the target market, designers say the Jetlev is as safe and easy to fly as possible, reports Gizmag. The first obvious safety feature is the limitation of using the device over water, which will provide a much softer landing than solid ground if something goes wrong. Other safety features include a 5-point quick-release harness, protective backrest and head support and inherent flotation to ensure you don't sink like a rock while still in the drink.

How It Works:

A flexible water supply hose delivers power to the jetpack with pressurized water. It also serves as the tether, enforces a flight ceiling, discourages the pilot from flying over land, acts as a stabilizer, dampens vibrations, and maintains forward heading stability of the jetpack in flight.

Even though the jetpack can generate upwards of 500 lbf (2220 N) of thrust for lift and propulsion, the flight controls are isolated from that thrust and only take a few ounces of effort to adjust.

Would You Try One?
